More information about Anti Rabies Virus Monoclonal Antibody
Rabies is caused by lyssaviruses, including the rabies virus and Australian bat lyssavirus. It is spread when an infected animal bites or scratches a human or other animals. Saliva from an infected animal can also transmit rabies if the saliva comes into contact with the eyes, mouth, or nose. Pets such as dog and cats are the common infected animals, thus it is usually managed by vaccination to ensure the virus is under control. Each year, rabies has caused many deaths globally.
Dogs are the main source of human rabies deaths, contributing up to 99% of all rabies transmissions to humans. Interrupting transmission is feasible through vaccination of dogs and prevention of dog bites. According to US CDC website, 0.5IU/mL is the minimum adequant level of serum antibody to protect cats or dogs from rabies infection. In order to make sure the rabies specific IgG level is over 0.5IU/mL, routine testing is always needed.
This anti rabies virus monoclonal antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody produced by ascites and purified by affinity and ion-exchange, which can be used in ELISA and lateral flow assay for the detection of rabies virus in various species, such as dog and cats.
Commercial ELISA kit and Rapid Test Kit are also developed with this antibody, check this Rabies Ag Rapid Test Kit and the Rabies Antibody ELISA Kit for more information.
